Description
Offered here is a matched set / pair of vintage car, automobile, or vehicle license plates. They are made of a soy bean fiber based composition material. These were made for the year 1943, when World War II was ongoing. The steel, usually used to make license plates, was needed for the "War Effort," and license plates were made of this product, similar to particleboard. Both of these plates are marked: "ILLINOIS...43...421 - 500." Each measures just under 11 inches long, by 5 & 1/4 inches wide. It is hard to find these fiber plates in matching pairs, as the elements usually took a toll on the front plate. These were USED, and the plate that (I assume) was on the front, has more weathering and soiling than the rear plate. Both still display very nicely. The set is guaranteed to be old & original - made for 1943 - or your money back.U.S. Shipping Only
