Divya Khossla accuses Alia Bhatt of rigging Jigra box office numbers

Actor-director Divya Khossla Kumar has accused actor Alia Bhatt of rigging the box office numbers of her latest film Jigra. This comes amid Khossla’s allegations that the Alia Bhatt-starrer, which hit the screens this week, is a copy of her film Savi released in May this year.
She claimed that Alia allegedly purchased tickets for ‘fake collections’. Sharing a photo of an empty theatre, Divya wrote, “Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty, all theaters going empty everywhere. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai, khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra (sic).”

The post follows buzz surrounding the similarities between Divya’s film Savi and Jigra. Recently, Divya Khossla addressed the comparisons between the two films. While acknowledging the similarities, Divya expressed gratitude for being the first to explore the genre, emphasising that both films have their own distinct journeys.
Savi, featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Anil Kapoor, tells the story of a housewife attempting to free her husband from a high-security prison in England, drawing inspiration from the tale of Savitri and Satyavan. Meanwhile, Jigra revolves around Alia Bhatt’s character, who orchestrates a jailbreak to save her brother.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt’s film opened with a single-digit figure at the domestic box office. The film, directed by Vasan Bala, was expected to collect in the range of Rs 4-5 crore nett on its first day, and it did just the same. The thriller earned Rs 4.25 crore nett on Friday, reported the trade website Sacnilk.
